five days on a motorbike through the northernmost highlands

Ha Giang was five days on a motorbike through the northernmost highlands of Vietnam. The roads ran between limestone mountains, deep river valleys, and passes where there was not much between the bike and the drop. Most of the day was riding along edges, stopping often because the view kept changing before I was ready to leave it.
We made it to Lung Cu, Vietnam's northernmost point, where the flag tower looks out toward the border with China. Somewhere else along the loop, we climbed a rocky peak where the path faded halfway up and the rest was just figuring it out carefully. My favourite stretch had no major stop attached to it, just a valley, the bikes, and enough open road to stop thinking about the time.
